So Sweet

I made this scrub last night and it was wonderful!
I used Coconut Oil and it made my skin so soft.
I didn't even have to use lotion after my bath.
The best part I already had these things laying around in the kitchen.
So treat yourself and enjoy!!!!

Difficulty: Easy
Time Required: 10 minutes

Here's How:

  1. For this body scrub, you can use salt or sugar. Sugar can be gentler on the skin. Just make sure to choose a sugar or salt that has small granules that won't tear at skin. A basic table salt or sugar works wonderfully. If you have super sensitive skin, you might opt for a dark brown sugar.
  2. Choose an oil. You can use baby oil or any of the following: organic extra virgin coconut oil (my absolute favorite, which you can buy at a health food store), almond oil, safflower, vegetable. According to Allure, makeup artist Joanna Schlip uses olive oil in the homemade scrubs she uses on actress Eva Longoria.
  3. You want 1 part oil to 2 parts sugar or salt. Place anywhere from a few tablespoons to a cup of salt or sugar in a container. Place half that amount of oil. Mix with a spoon. Don't freak out if the salt settles to the bottom. It's virtually impossible to keep it mixed.
  4. If you want your scrub to smell divine, put 5 drops of an essential oil into your mixture. Mix with spoon. Or do what actress Cate Blanchett does and put in mint (muddle it up first or put in a blender) and lemon zest. See my list of essential oils.
  5. Now onto the bath itself. I find scrubs work best on dry skin. Step into a bath tub and put on loofah mitts. I like the exfoliating gloves that you get in health food stores. They really scrub your skin good. If you don't have a bath mitt, don't worry, you can use your hands.
  6. Take a spoonful of the mixture into your palms or your gloves and then rub the mixture all over your body in a circular motion. For tougher areas such as the knees, soles and elbows, spend extra scrubbing time or cut a lemon in half and pour sea salt on the halves, scrubbing your soles, elbows and knees with the lemon. On places like the chest, neck, and stomach, where the skin is thinner, take it easy with the scrubbing and instead use cleanser on a washcloth to exfoliate. If you feel the salt is too harsh on your skin, rinse off the bath mitts and then spoon only the oil onto the mitts to continue.
  7. Once entire body is scrubbed well, rinse thoroughly.
  8. Pat skin dry. You should be good and cleansed. The salt (or sugar) should have exfoliated your skin nicely with the help of the loofah and the oil should leave skin soft and moisturized. You shouldn't even need to follow the bath with a moisturizer.
  9. The only bad part about this scrub is the oil can build up on the bathtub bottom. Make sure to clean it up so the next person who gets in doesn't slip.

What You Need

  • salt or sugar
  • oil (I prefer organic extra virgin coconut oil, but you can use any type of oil)
  • a bowl
  • essential oils if you choose
  • a spoon
  • loofah mitt (or you can use your hands)

Flawless

Wow, I am blown away at Ashlee Simpson's over all look.
She looks FLAWLESS.

Want to know the secret to the texture of the one curled lock in the front there? It's all in the technique you use with your iron. Here's the breakdown: Keeping the clamp closed the whole time, wrap your hair around the barrel, holding the last inch of your hair so it doesn't get curled. Just be careful not to burn your fingers!

My "Being a New Mom" Essentials

Let's kick things off with a great Blazer or Cardigan.
These are two great pieces to have.
Throw one on over a tank or tee shirt and you instantly look pulled together.
Plus did I mention they make you look a few pounds lighter in the mid section.
BONUS.

Next up we have the Straight Leg Jean.
This Jean looks good in any season.
You can cuff them at the bottom and they instantly turn in to what appears to be boyfriend Jeans.
Or you could just wear them as in for a slim lined look.

Tanks. Great for Layering.

The LBD.
I don't really need to elaborate on this one.
It speaks for itself.

Fun colorful accessories to spice things up and give your look a pop.

Cover those fresh stains
(thanks to the little one)
by throwing on a scarf.

And Last but not least a great pair or flats or booties.

This was brought to you courtesy of Glamour Magazine

How to achieve this look:
(Best of all it is so easy)

Step 1. Start with a base.
"I started with a beautiful dewy base and warmed up Kate's skin with a golden bronzer to emphasize her healthy glow."
Step 2. Line eyes.
"With a kohl pencil, I rimmed her eyes, not paying too much attention to precision. I rimmed the outer corner of the eye a little heavier to help create depth. I wanted the heaviest part of the makeup on the outer corner."
Step 3. Apply blush and a highlighter.
"To brighten the overall face, I used a highlighter on Kate's cheekbones, brow bones, and tip of her nose. I then applied a touch of peach blush on the apple of her cheek for freshness."
Step 4. Add gloss.
"I used a nude lip gloss that I dabbed on with my ring finger for a very natural look."

A closer look at the make up

As for her hair, David Babaii (Kate's hairstylist for 12+ years and a dear friend) created the look. "It is really all about showing off what I call the Kate Hudson Look. It is a look that truly shows off her healthy, shiny hair. Kate is my generation's Brigitte Bardot, showing off soft, voluptuous hair that is touchable and glamorous. In my eyes, she has a signature look that most women today can ask for."
Step 1. Prep the hair.
"I added a hair serum and strong-hold mousse before blow-drying to give it a natural, long-lasting hold."
Step 2. Blow-dry with a medium-size brush.
"I used a medium round brush at the root area to add volume, then switched to a large round brush to smooth and create soft rounded edges."
Step 3. Finger-comb.
"With my fingers, I combed through and allowed the hair to fall naturally into place. I then misted hair with hairspray for a soft, touchable finish."
Easy enough, right?! What do you think of Kate's hair and makeup look in our April issue?

2 Things I am Fashion Crushing on

These high wasted short from ShopeHopes.com
Yes I am a mom and Yes I am 30 but I am going to rock the hell outta these.

Next up this Statement Necklace from J. Crew.

Kim Kardashian's Maternity Style. Let's discus...

I know this celebrity I am about to talk about is way over exposed.
But sorry I can’t help but discus her wardrobe choices while she is pregnant.
This is my disclaimer, I am not a style expert just giving my two cents, even though they may not be needed or wanted. (but that’s the beauty of the good ole’ U.S of A)

Anyways, girl let your belly breath.
I get it you want to look and feel sexy because you feel like you are wearing a fat suit.
But guess what you’re not, your pregnant and that is a beautiful thing. So enjoy it, be comfortable because I know you can not be comfortable in that leather dress.  And the biggest thing of all ENJOY IT! Once the baby is here your fast life will have to slow down for your health and for the baby. Just saying.

The way not to do it:
(let that baby breath)

The correct way to do it:
(And yes you still look hot)

MILF Style Crush

Yes the beautiful mother of 4 Victoria Beckham.
She always looks so put together and polished.
Sometimes I even wonder if she is human.
She makes it looks so easy to do it all, but we all know it's not.
That is why she is my top style crush.

No Mom Jeans

Okay let’s be real here people.( By the way this post is for all the mom’s out there but anyone is more than welcome to read and maybe even take something from this.)
After having my son my world was flipped upside down. When I say flipped upside down I mean EVERYTHING. From my daily routine, to what I was wearing, how I carried myself, how I saw myself, my habits,  how was I going to fit in my workout and the list goes on.
After 19 months I am finding myself again and getting my hotness back. Please don’t think I am shallow, I’m just saying you know it has all crossed your minds.. It may take other mom’s shorter or it may take other mom’s longer to get back to everything with full force. (Please remember there is no time limit on these things, only you will know when you are ready.)
Ladies these are just some quick tips I picked up along the way and maybe they will be useful to you.
Beauty Routine:
You want to use things that are multi taskers. Check, Lips all in one?! Yes Please.

Let’s not forget to use a great Primer Base and Coverage in One. BB Cream is all the rage right now and it does Multi Task. Key word here ;)

Also a good key piece to have is a great under eye conceder because girl you are going to need it more those sleepless nights. I personally like and use this one. It has caffeine it in which helps the eye look more awake.

PS Don’t forget to use the mascara. It makes a world of difference, trust me.
Try washing and styling your hair at night after the kiddo’s are in bed. In the morning just refresh your hair style with a little finishing spray.

And Boom you are one pulled together Mom ready to take on the world.

Fitness Routine:
Invest in a jogging stroller; spring will be here before you know it. You don’t have to jog, you could walk. Whatever works for you as long as you are a mom that is moving. Plus the fresh air will be good for the both of you and this may even get baby to nap. Bonus.

I guess this saying is true.
“When babies are born mothers are born.”
I love being a mom and would not trade it for anything in this world. I feel like every moment with my son is a blessing. At the end of the day there is nothing better than snuggling with your loved one or ones.
