Faith in this world

I know this is going to sound like a broken record by now, but the world has truly gone mad.
It makes me sad to think about all the horrible things that go on in this world.
What people do to one another and to other living creatures?
Raising a young child in this world is a scary thing.
What happened to humanity?
I am not going to go on some long rant about this subject or at least hope anyways.
I just have to keep in mind that even though it looks really cloudy the sun will shine through it always does.
You just have to have Faith, Faith in humanity and all it’s flaws.

Whoever said “Oh it’s your first baby? The weight will come right off!” is lying to you. Let me start off by saying it has been 20 months since I have given birth to my son and I am still struggling to drop the last 10 pounds. (Granted I have lost over 40 pounds so far.) Like struggling for a couple of month’s type of struggling.

So with that being laid out for you, I decided it was time for a change. I looked my daily diet and exercise plan and figured I would change a few things. Can I just say it has made a world of difference? I have already lost 4 of the 10 pounds I am trying to lose.

The two things I have been doing different are I picked up Kettle Bell Training and Eating Clean.
Kettle Bell training is a great 3 in one work out that you can do at home. You know when the kiddo’s are napping or sleeping. They are normally 25-30 minute work out that combine Strength, Cardio, and Power. Great combo, right?

Then there is eating clean. Who knew it could be so easy and so fun. You can make your meals for the week with Turkey Meatloaf Muffins or Quiche, Smoothies and the list goes on. You can also freeze the smoothies let them sit out for a few minutes then you a cool treat with the texture of ice cream.

Turkey Meatloaf

Quiche

Green Machine Smoothie

Hope you enjoy!

Disclaimer: I am about to go on a rant. Okay you have been warned.

Reading this article on MSN makes me sick to my stomach. As a mother I try to always carry myself in a positive light and with class so that one day when I am no longer here my son will remember me in just that way.

To each their own, I am sure the Teen Mom is going to get a great pay day from this. However way to be a great mom and have your daughter live with that for the rest of her life. (I am being sarcastic if you can't tell)

Farrah Abraham’s reported co-star James Deen claims the tape is real.
UNCONFIRMED
While TMZ reports the tape has been seen by some adult entertainment companies, it has yet to be released
A sex tape featuring former MTV's "Teen Mom" star Farrah Abraham is reportedly being shopped around to different adult entertainment companies, according to a report by TMZ. The alleged tape has created buzz on  Huffington Post, the New York Daily News and US Weekly.
The 21-year-old reality star has not revealed details about the alleged tape but her reported co-star did.
"Word travels fast," Porn Star James Deen told TMZ.  "It isn't even edited yet. We shot it yesterday."
Deen, who recently starred in the film "The Canyons," with Lindsay Lohan, told TMZ that he and Abraham are not dating after they were photographed holding hands on Monday.
“Got tested together on Friday and then saw her on set. That is my only experience with the lady," he said.
Abraham’s coy reaction
Abraham became a reality star in 2009 when she gave birth to her daughter on MTV’s documentary series  “16 and Pregnant.” She then returned for the spinoff series “Teen Mom” which has now ended. Since then she has published a memoir and recorded a single.
When TMZ asked Abrahams about the sex tape she at first denied its existence but then said,  "I don't ... exist ... anything about that," she said. "If I had my own personal stuff, that's my own personal thing."
Abraham’s mother completely denies the claims and contacted the gossip site to refute the rumor.
"My daughter has never expressed interest in things like that," she said. "She was not brought up that way."

Before and After

As some of you might know I had a baby 20 months ago.
As much as I love my son, carrying him really took a toll on my body and self esteem.
I went from being 5 foot tall and 115 pounds to (still 5 foot tall)  pushing the scale at almost 200 pounds when he was born. When he was born he was 9 pounds and 21 inches long.

Needless to say I am doing this post for me. I am having one of those days where I am not feeling like my normal hot mom self. (which I know we all have those days) UGH >.<

That's me on the right looking like like I have a fat suit on :)

And this is me today.
Still need to drop 14 pounds to be back to my pre baby weight.

And let me just tell you these last 14 pounds are the hardest to come off.
No matter they will come off regardless.

So Mom's out there..
Just remember you are beautiful even when you are feeling like you are not.

Thankful for You

Disclamer: This is a sappy post.

This Poem made me think of how thankful I am to have such a great Best Friend.
We first met in the the 5th grade.
No matter what happened or where we lived we always remained close like sisters.
I am truly thankful and blessed to have her in my life.

To top everything off now are sons who are about the same age can grow up together and hopefully experience the same thing :)

Reason, Season, or Lifetime
People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime.
When you figure out which one it is,
you will know what to do for each person.

When someone is in your life for a REASON,
it is usually to meet a need you have expressed.
They have come to assist you through a difficulty;
to provide you with guidance and support;
to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually.
They may seem like a godsend, and they are.
They are there for the reason you need them to be.
Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time,
this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end.
Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away.
Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand.
What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled; their work is done.
The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.

Some people come into your life for a SEASON,
because your turn has come to share, grow or learn.
They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh.

They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy.
Believe it. It is real. But only for a season.

LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons;
things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation.
Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person,
and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life.
It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant.

Shadows & Light

post + photography by amy nadine, graphic design by eunice chun
When you apply foundation to your entire face, you’ve created a blank canvas, so you have to go back and add the dimensions back in. Remember in art class how you used darker shading to push an area away and lighter shading to pull an area towards you? That’s all we’re doing here! It creates the illusion of a stronger jawline, more chiseled cheeks and a slimmer face. And the easiest way to do this is by drawing the letter E on each side of your face to contour and the letter C on each side of your eyes. Anyone can do that, right? I’m showing you how to do it with both cream and powder formulas together for staying power, but you can certainly do one or the other.
TOOLS:
  • Cream Foundation or Cream Bronzer — you can simply find a cream foundation that is four or so shades darker than your foundation (I love Jouer Age-Repairing Perfector Foundation in Tawny for fair to medium skin tones or Almond for darker skin tones) or you can try Hourglass Illume, a cream bronzer + highlight duo that I’ve been using on my clients with fair to medium skin tones for at least three years now.
  • A Flat-headed Foundation Brush — this really presses the cream into the skin and does all the work for you. I love Dior Full Coverage Fluid Brush for an investment but Sonia Kashuk Flat Top Multi-Purpose Brush will get the job done too.
  • Blush/Contour Brush — the best brush to blend cream foundation or bronzer is a natural-bristled round-headed one that is densely packed like the Cozzette Contour Stylist Brush, the iconic must-have for makeup artists at Fashion Week around the world.
  • Bronzing + Highlighting Powder — you can certainly buy them separately but I love Trish McEvoy Dual Resort Bronzer + Highlight because it’s the perfect amount of warmth with a hint of shimmer.
  • Angled Contour Brush — I love Sigma’s Large Angled Contour Brush for its fluffy angled bristles.
STEPS:
  1. After you’ve applied your foundation all over your face and neck but before any powder, dip your brush into the cream bronzer/darker foundation to load it up.
  2. Swirl the brush on the back of your hand to take away some of the intensity.
  3. Start at the middle of the top of your hairline and begin the letter E by tracing along the perimeter down to your temple.
  4. Suck in your cheeks to see exactly where your cheekbones are then continue the middle prong of the letter E by sweeping the brush from your temple to just underneath the cheekbone (to hollow it out).
  5. Go back along the underside of your cheekbone to the ear then down to your jawline. Finish the E by sweeping the brush just on and underneath the jawline. I like to also fill in the whole neck to really shade it, but I have profile issues and do anything I can to make mine more pronounced!
  6. Repeat on the other side.
  7. Now swirl off any remainder on a tissue or the back of your hand and use the same brush to fill up with the cream highlighter.
  8. Draw the letter C by holding the brush in the middle of your forehead just above your brow and outlining the eye all the way to your temple then down under your eye just above your cheekbone. This will pull that area forward and really highlight your eyes.
  9. Repeat on the other side.
  10. Take the dry blush brush and go back over the E’s and C’s in swirling motions to really blend it into the skin. You could also use a Beauty Blender sponge to do this.
  11. Finish by grabbing the angled contour brush and going over the E with the bronzing powder and the C with the highlighting powder.
